The City of Barrie has been recognized with a 2024 Canada’s Safest Employers Award.
At an awards ceremony last week, the city was honoured with the SafeStart Award for Canada’s Safest Employer for Young Workers.
This award recognizes an organization in any industry that has innovated ways to put unique practices in place to engage, train, and mentor young workers while also displaying exemplary health and safety practices specifically targeted to workers under the age of 25.
“We’re honoured to be recognized with this award,” said Christine Gianino, City of Barrie director of human resources. “It highlights our ongoing commitment to providing a safe and secure workplace for employees. Our staff are dedicated to upholding the highest safety standards and care across the organization."
For 14 years now, the annual Canada’s Safest Employers Awards (CSEAs) has been recognized as the leading independent awards program in the occupational health and safety profession.
The awards recognize the outstanding health and safety professionals and companies for their achievements, leadership, and innovation over the past 12 months.
