The City of Barrie is offering free activities this summer, aimed at getting kids and youth engaged in active play, outdoor activities, and nature.

Two pop-up trailers, run by city staff, will travel to various parks and recreation facilities this summer, offering free programming and sports equipment for loan.

The city’s Nature Play trailer will offer nature play games and educational activities for kids and families throughout July and August. The trailer is part of Nature Play Days, which also offers nature-based activities and crafts.

The city’s Summer Fun trailer will travel to various parks and recreation facilities this summer season, starting July 3.

The trailer will feature loanable outdoor sports equipment and arts and crafts activities. All trailer contents will be free to use and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Equipment is for all ages and can be signed out by participants 12 years and older. Equipment will change based on the location of the trailer and could include items such as basketballs, soccer balls, pickleball equipment, grass games and arts and crafts activities.
