Highlighting the Barrie Concert Band’s 150th year celebrations, is the City of Barrie’s proclamation that June is 'Barrie Concert Band Month.' The proclamation recognizes the important contributions that the band has made to music in our community.

The Band’s 150th Anniversary concert taking place June 1, at 2 p.m. at Collier Street United Church, will be a unique tribute to the Band’s past history and its place as one of Canada’s oldest concert bands. Former conductors will share the baton with current director, Peter Voisey. Guest soloist, Mark Tetreault, who is principal Tuba with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, will also be performing with the band.

In addition, for this special anniversary concert, Rick Pauzé will conduct the premiere of his composition “Perceptions Suite” specially commissioned for this occasion. Musical selections will showcase the band’s evolution and give tribute to its past and current members.  We invite everyone to witness the power of a community concert band!

The Concert, held at Collier St. United Church, starts at 2 p.m. and will be followed by a reception.
