INNISFIL, ON - Members of the South Simcoe Police Service and the South Simcoe Police Auxiliary will be joining young anglers on Saturday morning at Innisfil Beach Park for the annual Kids, Cops and Canadian Tire Fishing Days.

Innisfil Community Events Corporation (ICE Corp) will be hosting the event on Saturday, June 24, 2017. Registration begins a 7 a.m., and awards will be presented at 11 a.m. The fishing derby is open at no cost to anyone under the age of 12. Participants are asked to bring their own rods and reels.

The derby is sponsored by Fishing Forever, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding worthwhile fishing, conservation and education projects. Other sponsors of the derby include the Police Association of Ontario (PAO), Canadian Tire, the South Simcoe Police Association (SSPA) and ICE Corp.

Bob Izumi, host of The Real Fishing Show and chair of Fishing Forever, says that nothing puts a smile on a kid's face faster than catching a fish.

Special Constable Karen Markus will be on hand to assist.

"This is one of my favourite community events each year", said Markus. "The kids always have a great time, and the officers helping out enjoy themselves as well."

Parents are encouraged to bring their kids out to Innisfil Beach Park for what promises to be a great day of fishing.
