The County of Simcoe hosted a number of councillors and representatives at the construction site of the Simcoe County Village Campus Project on Wednesday, June 19 in Beeton.
The purpose of the event was to not only showcase the progress being made on the Simcoe Village Campus Project, but to discuss other Building Up initiatives that are taking place across the county.
Construction of the new Simcoe Village Campus is making great progress. Occupancy of Simcoe Manor (long-term care), the Village Centre, as well as supportive and affordable housing is targeted for late 2026, with occupancy of the life lease/market rental building/co-housing, garden and town homes in 2027.
“Once complete, this will be more than housing or long-term care, it will be a community for seniors where they can connect with their peers, make new friends, and have the support to receive different levels of care and services as their needs change within a community setting,” said Warden Basil Clarke.
“This is just one of the many major projects and investments the county is undertaking across our region as part of our overarching goal to continue Building Up Simcoe County. We are achieving this not only through housing but by continually investing in things like transit, tourism, healthcare, waste management and forestry.”
In addition to showcasing the Simcoe Village Campus redevelopment project, the county also highlighted additional investments in building up our communities during the event.
This includes an $860-million, 10-year housing development plan (dependent on external funding support), continued investments in enhancing road infrastructure, economic development priorities such as growth of the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport, responsible forestry and waste management initiatives and expansion of LINX Transit service, among many other projects and initiatives.
