It’s easy to help people in your community and improve the environment at the same time with little effort and no cost to you. Just gather up the old clothes you don’t wear and drop them off at the Kidney Clothes office and donation centre at 570 Bryne Dr., Suite J in Barrie.

One in 10 Canadians has kidney disease and millions more are at risk. Kidney Clothes is encouraging people to show support for those affected by kidney disease and also help our environment by donating any unwanted clothing and cloth-based goods. These include bedding, draperies, pillows, linens, shoes, purses and outerwear.

The average North American throws away over 80 lbs. of clothing a year and 90 per cent of those items could be recycled or reused. Kidney Clothes promotes the recycling of textiles and other household goods that might otherwise end up in landfills. Taking your unwanted clothing and small household items to the Barrie donation centre is an easy way to make sure those items are reused or properly recycled.

The funds raised through the Kidney Clothes program are used by The Kidney Foundation of Canada to provide hope, support, empowerment and engagement to all Canadians affected by kidney disease. This means people in the Barrie community will have access to more Kidney Foundation programs which include financial assistance, peer support, and educational materials such as the Living with Kidney Disease patient manual that is given to every newly diagnosed kidney patient.
