A forensic post mortem examination has determined that the victims of last week's double murder in Barrie were stabbed to death.
Barrie Police say 51-year-old James Pasowisty and his 19-year-old son Nick 'died as a result of multiple stab wounds.'
Their bodies were discovered in their William Street home early last Wednesday after Barrie Police received two 911 calls from inside the duplex.
At the time, police said the victims had 'obvious signs of trauma' but it's still not publicly known what sparked the killings.
"Investigators are not speaking to motive," said Barrie Police Const. Nicole Rodgers. "We are investigating the scene as a violent altercation that happened that caused the death of these two."
Within hours of the gruesome discovery, police arrested a man at a nearby home on Marcus Street.
Dyrrin Daley, 24, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and is due to make another court appearance on Thursday.
Police say the victims and the accused knew each other.
Officers have cleared from both scenes and police say residents in the attached units have returned.
The Homicide Unit investigation is continuing.
"It doesn't stop just because we've released the scenes. It's continuing. Investigators are processing what they gathered at the scene, going through and completing all the interviews they need to or follow up, getting any cell phone records or things like that that may be associated to that time of night," said Rodgers.
The Forensic Identification Unit spent the better part of the weekend at the scenes on William Street and Marcus Street.
Rodgers says the bodies were released yesterday from the coroner but there's no word yet on funeral arrangements.
