ONTARIO NDP

The Ontario NDP riding association the riding of Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte chose worker's advocate Dan Janssen to run as their candidate in June's provincial election at a nomination meeting on Monday night.
"I am excited to be running as a member of Andrea Horwath’s NDP team,” said Janssen.
"This is my home and this is where I am raising my two-year-old daughter. I want to see change for the better for our families and our communities. We don’t have to go from Liberals to Conservatives, from cuts to hospitals and schools, to the privatization of our electricity and sky high hydro bills.
“We can choose Andrea Horwath and the NDP, and invest in healthcare and expand dental and pharmacare coverage for everyone, keep our local schools open, and lower our hydro bills."
Dan Janssen has lived in the Barrie area most of his life.
He has worked for 17 years at Air Canada loading aircraft and is active in his union to improve the working conditions of airport workers at Canada's largest workplace, as well as workers in the province by raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour. In his community, he works alongside the Barrie and District Labour Council.
"I got involved with NDP because this is the party that I feel best represents my core values. It’s a party that, at its foundation, is about helping people, lifting people up, and levelling the playing field so even our most vulnerable have a chance at a good quality of life," said Janssen.
"Doug Ford represents change for the worse for our community. He has promised to cut more than $6 billion from the public services we depend on, and he has no plan to lower our hydro bills.
"People and families don't have to accept more Liberal and Conservative cuts, and less public services. They can choose Andrea Horwath and the NDP and a better way forward."
