Three tents were damaged during a fire at the Berczy Park encampment in Barrie Sunday, but there were no injuries.
“There was a candle in close proximity to one of the tents that are there, which started the fire,” said assistant deputy chief Justin Gilbert.
“It was knocked down within 10 minutes.”
Barrie Fire and Emergency Service was called at about 8 a.m. to the encampment, located south of Wellington Street East.
Gilbert said three tents were located there and all three were damaged by the fire, which produced much smoke.
“When there’s an encampment fire, there’s always lots of smoke, but it was quickly extinguished,” he said.
