Engineering being worked out for rental-retail proposal on Georgian Dr.

Property located near Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre; Plan includes 19 storeys of 376 rental apartments and ground-floor commercial

Nineteen storeys of 376 rental apartments and ground-floor commercial uses could one day sit on four acres along Barrie’s Georgian Drive.

Official Plan and zoning amendments, along with a site plan, are under review by city planning staff for 290, 294, 298 and 302 Georgian Dr., near Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) and Georgian College.

“The applicant (TDM Atria) has been working with staff and applicable external agencies to address civil engineering matters,” said Andrew Gameiro, senior planner with the city’s development services department.

“I am hopeful that a staff report may be brought forward to council before council’s summer recess (beginning in July),” he added.

The development would have 350 square metres of ground-floor commercial space, indoor and outdoor amenity areas and underground parking.

A public meeting on these applications was held in June 2019.

This property is located north of RVH, near the corner of Gallie Court.
