TAY TOWNSHIP β On March 4, 2016 at approximately 1:55 p.m. officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting motorized snow vehicle patrol in the area of OFSC trail C near Triple Bay Road when they came upon four males standing on the trail.
There were no snowmobiles in the vicinity of these males.
Further investigation by the officers revealed that these males had been target practicing in the bush area off the snowmobile trail.
One of the males was found to be in possession of a weapon and a small quantity of suspected marijuana.
A second male was found to be in possession of open alcohol.
Gregory James Markiton (age 29) of Midland, ON has been charged with:

Possession of a Schedule II substance-Cannabis Marihuana-under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)

Careless Use of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on May 12, 2016 in Midland ON.
Lucas Arthur Gillies (age 28) of Midland, ON has been charged with:

Having Open Liquor in other than Licensed Premises, Residence, or Private Place contrary to Liquor Licence Act.
