There’s lots more to Edenvale than just the Aerodrome… Mamma Mia, is there ever!
EdenStock is back for another year, Saturday, July 8, from 8:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m., at the facility on Highway 26 East in Stayner, chock full of musical acts that should have fairgoers dancing in the aisles all afternoon long. You’ll see some of the best tribute bands paying homage to the days of rock and roll as well as disco.
Etched in the memory of many who attended in years past was the ABBA tribute foursome. Tanya Snell, EdenStock marketing and promotions director, says the appeal of the Swedish supergroup is not restricted to its heyday of the 1970s.
“ABBA was a huge hit and fan favourite last year, so they are coming back for another year. I think ABBA has been able to expand their demographic with the resurgence of the Mamma Mia musical – all ages are familiar with their songs now.”
And if you’re talking rock and roll, get set for three quarters of Sun Records’ “Million-Dollar Quartet.” You’ll see likenesses of “The Killer” – Jerry Lee Lewis, and “The Man in Black” – Johnny Cash. And Snell says you won’t see just anybody donning a white, tight jumpsuit, making on like he’s Elvis.
“Tim E Hendry is a multiple-award-winning Elvis. This year alone, he has won the EP Expo is Yuma, Arizona; the Georgia Elvis Festival; the Nashville Elvis Fest; the Myrtle Beach Elvis Festival; and the King Explosion in Altoona, Iowa.”
Plus, before and after the show, besides taking a tour of the aerodrome, Snell says there’s lots to see, do, eat, and drink.
"This year, we have added vendors who will be selling products, fudge, butter tarts, ice cream etc. We also have a local micro-brewery onsite sampling products. Attendees will also have the chance to win some really great prizes.”
And even though it’s three weeks in advance, Tanya promises fair weather.
“The sun always shines on EdenStock! We have massive event tents to provide shade and protection if it rains.”
This July will mark the third edition of EdenStock, which Snell boasts is shaping up to be Ontario’s largest outdoor, multi-genre tribute artist show.
“Our aim for next year is to go a little country, pop and classic rock, to mix it up a bit.”
