TORONTO – Five ninth-inning runs propelled the Kitchener Panthers to a 9-6 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Christie Pits Wednesday night. 

Keegan Marsden went 2-for-4 with four RBI. His two-run single with one out in the ninth broke a 6-6 tie. Tanner Nivins started the rally with a solo home run and also singled and scored earlier in the game. 

Zach Johnson went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI, Mike Andrulis added three hits and an RBI, Brian Burton singled twice, scored twice and drove in a run, Colin Gordner had two runs, and Mike Gordner had an RBI and scored once. 

Mike Schnurr (3-0) allowed an unearned run over 1.2 innings for the win. He walked one and struck out two. Miguel Lahera struck out two in a clean ninth for his seventh save.

Starter Jonder Martinez went six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits with a walk and eight strikeouts. 

Kitchener improved to 21-9 and has won seven of its last 10. 

Damon Topolie drove in two runs for Toronto, which fell to 13-17 and has lost nine straight. The Maple Leafs face the Barrie Baycats on Thursday night at Coates Stadium. 

Dan Marra had two hits and an RBI, Marcus Knecht scored twice, and Garret Takamatsu singled, scored and drove in a run. 

Zach Sloan (6-4) took the loss, giving up five runs on six hits with two walks and three strikeouts over two innings. 

Pedro De Los Santos started and went 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts. 

Bryan powers Herd past Red Sox 

BRANTFORD – Vaughn Bryan doubled twice and drove in three to lead the Burlington Herd to an 11-5 win over the Brantford Red Sox Wednesday night at Arnold Anderson Stadium. 

Bryan also walked and scored three times apiece as Burlington improved to 11-20. 

Reese O'Farrell had three hits and four RBI, while Andrew Mercier and Cooper Lamb each went 2-for-5 with an RBI. 

Nolan Pettipiece had two hits and three runs, Justin Gideon scored twice, and Mattingly Romanin had two runs and an RBI. 

Chris Boatto (1-4) earned the win, going seven innings and allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits. He walked four and struck out four. 

For Brantford, Anthony Rizquez and Blake Kauer each drove in a run. Ricky Murray had two hits and a run. 
Matt Martinow (1-3) gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits with a walk over 3.1 innings. 

Brantford dropped to 10-18 and has lost six straight.
