Four charged following warrants on pot dispensaries

Investigation is ongoing and detectives continue to comb through a large quantity of items seized from both locations

Investigators with the Barrie Police Service Street Crime Unit executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act warrant at two marijuana dispensaries on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016.

As a result of community complaints, the Street Crime Unit commenced an investigation into two illegal marijuana dispensaries, those being Sunrise Medicinal at 15A Dunlop Street East and Med West at 304 Dunlop Street, West in the City of Barrie. 

As a result of the search warrants, investigators seized a large quantity of cash, Cannabis Marijuana, Cannabis Resin, Hashish and edible products containing THC (the psychoactive ingredient contained in marijuana).

A 63-year-old Wasaga Beach male, employee from Sunrise Medicinal dispensary has been arrested and charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on Sept. 28, 2016.

A 30-year-old Coldwater male, owner/operator from Med West dispensary has been arrested and charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on Sept. 28, 2016.

A 30-year-old Barrie mal, owner/operator from Med West dispensary has been arrested and charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on Sept. 28, 2016.

A 29-year-old Barrie male, owner/operator from Med West dispensary has been arrested and charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on Sept. 28, 2016.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives continue to comb through a large quantity of items seized from both locations. Further arrests and charges are expected to be laid as the investigation continues.
