Game on! Centennial Park rink opens this afternoon

Sometimes a prolonged deep freeze can have a hidden bonus. 

The Centennial Park Community Ice Rink is scheduled to open today at 3 p.m. 

The rink, located at 95 Lakeshore Drive, will be open seven days a week 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., w​eather permitting. Ice rink is for pleasure skating and hockey with washrooms located near the rink. 

The city has also developed an alternating user schedule, which includes pleasure skating from 10 a.m. until noon, as well as 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., with shinny hockey hitting the ice in two-hour blocks from noon until 2 p.m., 4-6 p.m., and 8-10 p.m.

The Circle at the Centre outside Barrie City Hall is also open for pleasure skating. There are heated change rooms on site. Rink hours are dependent on weather conditions.
