Georgina resident Susan Beatty won $349,192 in the RVH Auxiliary 50/50 draw for October.

A Georgina woman is nearly $350,000 richer today after winning Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre's latest 50/50 draw.

Susan Beatty was the winner of the RVH Auxiliary 50/50 October draw, and took home a cheque in the amount of $349,192 — the second highest single-month jackpot in the local hospital fundraiser’s history.

In January, Orillia resident Lea Engles took a prize totalling more than $694,000 back in January, while Glen M. of Utopia won more than $600,000 in the 50/50 community draw in August.

The fundraising lottery, which was first launched in December 2020, supports the RVH Auxiliary’s $5-million pledge to the Barrie hospital's Keep Life Wild Campaign. Proceeds will be directed to the neonatal intensive care unit’s (NICU) much-needed expansion.

RVH says the redevelopment of the NICU is part of its capital expansion plan.

Tickets for the next draw are already on sale, and can be purchased until 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 27.

There are also two early bird draws for $10,000 each.
