GRYPHON GUILD

The Gryphon Guild is a service club in Barrie, whose members volunteer their time as ushers at both the Georgian Theatre, located at Georgian College, and Five Points Theatre in downtown Barrie.
The guild receives payment for these ushering services from the City of Barrie and subsequently through grants uses these funds to benefit youth studying in performing and visual arts in Barrie and area communities.
The Gryphon Guild conducts its annual grants program in September each year and invites youth organizations in pursuit of performing arts endeavours (dance, visual arts, music, or drama) to apply. In addition, schools and community organizations that are undertaking an arts initiative involving youth are also welcome to apply. Grants up to $1,000 per application can be awarded if they meet the criteria of the program.
In 2024, Gryphon Guild awarded a total of $26,300 in support of local youth. In 2023, the program was rejuvenated following a pandemic pause and the amount was $21,000.
Recipients frequently let us know how welcome the funds were and what a difference they made to the artistic growth of the children.
We are very proud that our volunteer hours in support of local theatre have had such a positive impact on youth in our community.
The Gryphon Guild is always welcoming new member volunteers who might enjoy ushering, attending local theatre offerings and participating in this very worthy cause.
