Flurries tomorrow and risk of afternoon snow squalls, local amount 2 to 4 cm and windy  with the high zero.

Cloudy Sunday with 70 percent chance of flurries or snow squalls and a high -5.

Here are the details of the snow squall warning issued by Environment Canada:

5:30 AM EST Friday 27 January 2017

Snow squall warning in effect for:

  • Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
  • Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake
  • Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago

Snow squalls are expected. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.

Snow squalls have developed over Georgian Bay and are extending into the area. Local snowfall amounts of 15 cm in 12 hours will be possible under the most intense snow squalls.

The potential for snow squalls will continue into the weekend.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Snow squall warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
