The City of Barrie is working with the Simcoe County Local Immigration Partnership to support the area’s second annual Week of Welcome.

Week of Welcome activities focus on economic, social, cultural and political integration of newcomers in Simcoe County by liaising with local municipal partners, settlement service provider organizations, ethno-cultural groups and vendors.

“The Week of Welcome is another way the City of Barrie can support newcomers and showcase the many amenities and services available,” said City of Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall. “I encourage new and longtime residents to come together during this week of celebration and take advantage of the events being offered.”

The City of Barrie is hosting a family-friendly Week of Welcome Experience Barrie Bus Tour for newcomers and residents on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m., departing from the Barrie Public Library (downtown) at 60 Worsley St. The bus tour is an opportunity to experience Barrie by driving by and visiting a few key places of interest.

Pre-registration is required at Experience Barrie Bus Tour. For more information visit simcoe.ca/WeekofWelcome. Funding has been provided by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
