INNISFIL, ON – Individuals, community groups or anyone who has an inspiring idea to make Innisfil an even better place are invited to attend one of the Town’s Community Grant Workshops to learn how to apply for an Inspiring Innisfil Grant.
The workshops will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 6 p.m. and Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Innisfil Town Hall, in the Community Rooms (located at 2101 Innisfil Beach Rd., Innisfil.)
“The Inspiring Innisfil Grant program is for those that have an interest in making our community better and an idea on how to do so,” said Innisfil Mayor Gord Wauchope. “It is important for all interested residents to have their ideas heard and we would like to see many applications come in for a grant this year.”
Earlier this year, there were changes made to simplify the application and approval process for individuals and community groups applying to receive funding.
Anyone who unsuccessfully applied for an Inspiring Innisfil Grant in the past is encouraged to come to one of the upcoming workshops and consider applying again.
Residents and community groups will have the opportunity to apply for a grant during the fall intake by the application deadline on Friday, October 7, 2016, at 4:30 p.m.
Those who attend the workshop will learn about the following:
- The Inspiring Innisfil Grant Program’s history
- How the Inspiring Innisfil Fund works
- Successful projects in the past
- Who is eligible and who is not
- Writing tips
Spirit of the Community Fundraising
In April, $80,056 was given out from the Inspiring Innisfil Fund Spring intake to 11 community groups. In June, the Town’s Spirit of the Community Mayor’s Golf Tournament raised an impressive $50,030 for the 2017 fund.
The next fundraising event, the Spirit of the Community Dinner and Auction, will take place at the ideaLAB and Library, located at 967 Innisfil Beach Road, on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $75 each and include an evening catered by Pasta Plus a live auction and entertainment.
