I Love Barrie winners honoured

Launched on Valentine’s Day, the contest offers students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 an opportunity to express why they love Barrie.

The winners of this year’s ‘I Love Barrie’ contest were recognized at Wednesday night's city council meeting.

Layla Maxwell, a Grade 4 student at Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic School, was the artwork winner.

She received an ‘I Love Barrie’ prize pack.

The class winner was Mrs. Macdonald’s Grade 2/3 class at St. Bernadette Catholic School.

Class members received a lunch.

Launched on Valentine’s Day, the contest offers students from kindergarten to Grade 12 an opportunity to express why they love Barrie, by sharing artwork, a short story or a photo.

Now in its seventh year, this contest originated in Ward 10 under former councillor Mike McCann, then spread throughout the city.
