SIMCOE COUNTY – Eleven-thousand dollars was recently donated to New Path Foundation in support of child and youth mental health services in Simcoe County. The money was raised through the first annual golf tournament at Innisbrook Golf Course organized by A Man’s Zone Barbershop in Barrie.

“We are so thankful for the ongoing support that Grace Dajo and the team at A Man’s Zone Barbershop provide to New Path,” says James Thomson, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, New Path Foundation. “Funds raised through this event allow us to provide much needed supports to help children and youth in our community living with a mental health challenge.”

Over the past six years, A Man’s Zone Barbershop has raised over $25,000 in support of child and youth mental health services through the Help the one in five fund. The fund was established to bring the community together in support of children, youth and their families affected by a mental health challenge. All the money raised through Help the one in five supports New Path Youth and Family Services which provides innovative, accessible and timely child and youth mental health supports in the county.

“A Man’s Zone has been a proud supporter of New Path for the past six years. This year we changed our fundraising event from having a BBQ to hosting a golf tournament. This ended up being a huge success,” says Grace Dajo, Owner, A Man’s Zone Barbershop. “We thank all of our sponsors, participants, volunteers, prize donors, friends and family for their support. This will be an annual event and we’re excited to continue our fundraising journey with New Path. See you next year!”

One in five Ontario children and youth has a diagnosable mental health concern and research has proven that early intervention is critical to providing children and youth with a hopeful and healthy future. The services being offered by community-based mental health agencies, such as New Path Youth and Family Services, are crucial to helping children and youth in our communities overcome their challenges.

  • In response to community demand. New Path Youth and Family Services began offering child and youth mental health walk-in clinics for those needing immediate support.
