The City of Barrie is hosting two virtual information sessions for prospective municipal election candidates and third-party advertisers to learn more about the nomination and registration process.
Anyone interested in running in the 2022 municipal election for mayor, council member or school board trustee or registering as a third-party advertiser is invited to attend one of the following information sessions:
- Wednesday, April 27 at 6 p.m. Register in advance by visiting the Information for Candidates page, via barrie.ca/Election. The session will cover City of Barrie policies, procedures, and bylaw information pertaining to prospective candidates and the third-party advertiser registration process.
- Wednesday, June 15 at 6 p.m. Register in advance visiting the Information for Candidates page via barrie.ca/Election.
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing will be reviewing the Municipal Elections Act and providing information on becoming a candidate or third-party advertiser in a municipal election.
Starting May 2, registrations for third-party advertisers will be accepted, and nominations for the following offices:
- Mayor
- Councillor
- Member, Simcoe County District School Board
- Member, Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board
- Member, Conseil scolaire Viamonde
- Member, Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir
