The Innisfil Farmers' Market is preparing to open for its biggest season yet.
The fun kicks off next Thursday, June 2 at 1 p.m. in the YMCA south parking lot at Yonge Street and Innisfil Beach Road, with an official ribbon-cutting, giveaways, live music and vendors.
Market manager Jaime Grant says this will be an exciting season for the weekly market, which is now categorized under the Large Farmers Market category.
"I am beaming over here," said an excited Grant.
When the market first started 12 years ago there were only 12 vendors, but that has now grown to more than 60.
"It has been a journey," said Grant.
The Innisfil Farmers' Market is designated a 'True Farmers' Market' as over 51 per cent of the vendors are identified as primary producers, personally growing or raising at least 70 per cent of the products they sell.
Innisfil Fire and the Innisfil ideaLAB& Library will also be in attendance on opening day and because the market recently received the Simcoe County Grant for Culture Enhancement there will be live music by Shawn Steinhart on opening day, as well as some new additions to their 'Artisan Alley' in the coming months.
Grant is hoping to be able to bring back the annual Community Services Day this July and other fun events and contests throughout the season.
The market runs every Thursday from 1-6 p.m. until the end of October. To learn more visit their website here.
