Innisfil Health and Wellness Show shines spotlight on health-related businesses (8 photos)

Health and wellness alternatives highlighted this weekend at Innisfil Lions Hall

With certified personal trainers, hand-made soaps, cosmetics, crystal jewelry and the Innisfil Health & Wellness Show was a gift show with a difference.

Organized by Kimberly Harvey-Chase of My Lil Gem and the York Simcoe Events Group, the weekend show was the latest in a series of shows held at the Innisfil Lions Hall in Alcona to promote and highlight local businesses and vendors, this time with a focus on personal wellness.

Leah and Robb Armstrong of eLifestyle Fitness offered visitors a variety of personal fitness and weight-loss options, through their long-established lifestyle management company.

At neighbouring booths, shoppers could check out the hand-made jewelry and crystals of Amanda Currie’s Dark Horse Designs, or learn more about A Healthy Solution for You, the enterprise of Cassie Landolfi, Live Blood Cell Microscopist, Homeopath and Nutritionist.

Sarah Cooper of Thornton brought her line of Bohemia Rock the Soapery House products. “It started with soap,” said Cooper. “And then didn’t I get into Pinterest, and start seeing things that I thought were pretty!”

Her products now include handmade soaps, elegant lavender sachets, loofah cakes and, in a nod to her Cree heritage, ‘smudge sticks’ made of sage, incense and roses.

There were soy candles, health socks, handmade jewelry, as well as representatives of well-known brands like DōTerra, Scentsy and Mary Kay Cosmetics.

There were even healthy alternatives for pets. Christi Darvy of Newmarket brought her Suds Buckets line of all-natural health products for dogs, from Wolfie Yum treats, to glycerine soaps, shampoos, paw balms, flea and tick powders.

A pamphlet noted, “Through Suds Buckets our goal is to provide alternatives for care and healthy treats for your companions.” Davy added, “It’s all about my dogs!”

Coming up: York Simcoe Events Group is hosting an Innisfil Gift Show in support of KAT6A Syndrome and Rare Disease Awareness Day, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 29 and March 1 at the Innisfil Lions Hall, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. The show will feature dozens of unique vendors and crafters, and raise funds for KAT6A Related Disorder, a syndrome resulting from a mutation in the KAT6A gene.
