NEWS RELEASE

TOWN OF INNISFIL

*************************
Innisfil residents are strongly advised to prepare for electricity to be out all night on Friday, March 25, 2016 and into Saturday morning and beyond.

On Friday afternoon, the ice storm unfortunately caused new damage to Innisfil’s electricity infrastructure, including the transmission lines that feed electricity into Innisfil, knocking out the power for more residents while hampering restoration efforts.

Warming Centres

Residents who need shelter or to recharge electronic devices are welcomed to visit the Town’s two warming centres that will remain open until 11 p.m. or until the power returns.

The warming centres are located at:

  • Innisfil Public Library Lakeshore Branch - 967 Innisfil Beach Road
  • Fire Station 4 - 23 King Street North

Residents are advised to stay indoors and remember that non-essential travel is not advised.

Residents who must travel are advised to check weather conditions and make their way to main roads which remain clear.

Power Outages

Please be advised that InnPower is aware of all major power outages. If residents would like to report an outage they can e-mail InnPower at [email protected]or call at 705-431-4321.

Due to a high number of calls the line will be busy at times but residents will eventually get through.

InnPower crews, Innisfil Fire & Rescue Services, South Simcoe Police and Town Roads crews have worked around the clock to restore power and keep roads clear and will continue to do so.

Town Staff and their partners thank Innisfil residents for their patience during this time.
