Inquest launched into death of Glen Kristofferson while in police custody

Dr. David Eden, regional supervising coroner for inquests, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Glen Kristofferson.

Mr. Kristofferson, 32, died on Jan. 23, 2017, while in custody at the Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Kristofferson's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

Details regarding the date and location will be provided at a later date. Dr. Mary Beth Bourne will preside as inquest coroner and Jenna Dafoe and Kate Forget will be counsel to the coroner.
