The IOOF Seniors Homes has launched its Holiday 50/50 Raffle and online Merry Magical Holiday Auction to raise money in support of its redevelopment campaign to expand the facility to a 226-bed long-term care home.
IOOF Seniors Homes says the redevelopment will address sustainability issues for an aging population and increased demand for long-term care in the local community.
The project will create 64 new long-term care beds and 66 upgraded beds, with modern spaces, updated equipment, private rooms and increased square footage.
When completed, the LTC home will be a 226-bed facility.
In a news release, long-term care resident Lesley Weller conveyed her gratitude for the IOOF’s Care Team’s "compassion and dedication" and for “always being pleasant and not hesitating to go out of their way to help.”
Weller came to the IOOF nearly two years ago, after contracting the COVID-19 virus. She was hospitalized, and suffered irreparable kidney and heart damage that altered her life and took away her independence.
Today, the organization says Weller is an active central member of the IOOF as volunteer vice-president of the residents’ council, providing vital insights that influence the care of our residents.
"She is a writer with a passion for poetry and working on four books, including a family project that will be a wonderful family legacy: compiling her personal poems for her grandchildren," according to the release.
Weller and other residents will be participating in the campaign to raise money to build long-term care beds and increase care capacity.
The 50/50 raffle tickets are available for purchase, with the grand prize draw on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023.
Anyone purchasing their tickets before Dec. 1 will be included in the $500 early bird draw, donated by Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Ticket prices are three for $10, 10 for $20, 30 for $50, and 100 for $100.
"The Merry Magical Holiday Auction is a wonderful way to support the IOOF while holiday shopping for yourself or loved ones," states the release. "The online auction has beautifully decorated seasonal trees, holiday décor, gift baskets, restaurant gift cards and much more."
