NEWS RELEASE

COUNTY OF SIMCOE

*************************
The County of Simcoe honoured residents, businesses, and organizations during the 5th annual Newcomer Recognition Awards on Oct. 26, 2017.

The awards ceremony recognized community leaders and champions who purposefully take action to enhance the lives of newcomers in Simcoe County.

“These Awards are a great way to recognize individuals who work to connect and improve the lives of newcomers transitioning to our communities,” said Warden Gerry Marshall. “Recent data indicates that our immigrant population has grown to almost 62,000 residents, representing 13 per cent of our regional population. This growth validates the increasing importance of community programs and partnerships focused on assisting newcomers, our communities and our businesses to adapt and embrace our emerging diversity.”

Award recipients were nominated by their peers in 10 categories through an open nomination process. Nomination forms were reviewed by the Simcoe County Newcomer Recognition Awards Steering Committee.

We congratulate the following award recipients:

  • Marvin Patani - Immigrant Youth
  • Manpreet Singh Saini - Immigrant Artist
  • CR Systems - Culturally Diverse Workforce
  • CONTACT’s bradford WORKS - Welcoming Work Environment
