Ontario Provincial Police say a large fire at an Alliston feed mill in the early hours of Friday morning is being investigated as arson.
"It's a criminal investigation and we've turned it over to the Fire Marshal's Office." said Nottawasaga OPP Const. Harry Lawrenson.
Lawrenson denied reports that police had someone under arrest.
"We don't," said Lawrenson.
"There is no damage estimate yet. We don't know that yet. The owner of the mill is on scene to see how much damage there actually was," Lawrenson said.
Some homes were evacuated as New Tecumseth Firefighters battled the large blaze.
The Fire Chief first sent out a tweet around 4:30 a.m.
"NTFR on scene of a large structure fire on Albert Street in Alliston. Roads closed and some evacuation of residents in a localized area."
Roadways in the area remain closed Friday morning.
The business, Alliston Feed Service Litd., wrote a note and published a photo of the fire on its Facebook page.
"We have had a devastating fire this morning but are open for business. Please call 705-434-0014 or for bulk orders call 705-333-2157."
