LETTER: A beautiful community is up to each of us

Sonya Anderson, of Barrie, reminds us of an action we can all take to limit the amount of recyclables that get blown around our city on windy garbage days

The following letter was received by BarrieToday from a Barrie resident who has a solution to the problems created by windy garbage days.

A couple of weekends ago was the Spring Clean Up Event hosted in many neighbourhoods throughout our city.

One thing that always made me feel sad after this annual event was that all the efforts of thousands of dedicated citizens were often blown away by the first windy garbage day.

BUT this doesn't need to be so, and the solution is quite simple: On garbage day the City of Barrie allows you to put your recyclables in clear bags. This prevents them from blowing around and making our beautiful communities look trashy.

It’s a small price to pay for us all to appreciate this beautiful City that we call home. Please do your part to make sure YOUR recyclables aren’t littering our neighbourhoods!
