Traffic heavy but no one seems to care

The long weekend exodus to cottages and trailers was well underway before noon Friday.

Traffic was heavy on the northbound 400 through Barrie but travellers who made a pit stop at the On Route didn't care.

A very upbeat Joe Tempio was heading to his family cottage in Port McNicoll for four days after opening his getaway spot last weekend.

"Tomorrow we're going to have nice fireworks. My daughter is coming with the kids and my son with the girlfriend and then we'll have a barbecue.  That's what we're gonna do.  Eat. Swimming -  no chance yet.," said Joe Tempio.

Ken Lagerwerf was heading to his trailer in Parry Sound to open the vacation home and do not much.

"Sit in my chair and just enjoy the weather," he said - and maybe have a beer.

A trio of friends from Burlington was travelling to Gravenhurst for a girl's weekend long weekend.

First order of business?

"Have a beverage," laughed Alyssa Choma

"Glass of wine. Hot tub. Gossip. Girl's weekend," said Amanda McCarthy
