M*A*S*H Bash celebrates 30 years of fun and fundraising

'A great event for a great cause'

Hundreds of winter enthusiasts were at Snow Valley Ski Resort for the 30th annual M*A*S*H Bash ski and snowboard day in support of Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

The proceeds from today’s event –projected to be more than $20,000 based on attendance– support Child and Youth Mental Health services at RVH.

"Mash Bash is just awesome for us," said RVH Foundation CEO Eric Dean.

"We are the last region in Ontario that does not have inpatient care for children and youth in a mental health crisis," he explained.

"We're looking to build an eight bed unit that will bring that service closer to home for kids to get early diagnosis, a treatment plan and then the outpatient support they need to transition back to community-based supports that are already in existence."

Over the years the event has raised more than $500,000 for RVH and patient care.

Dean participated in the celebrity/media Bedpan Race, which was won by MP Alex Nuttall.

"Bedpan's always the funniest and fun event," said Peter Hanney, assistant general manager at Snow Valley Resort.

"It's been thirty years of doing this.  It's fabulous. A great event for a great cause. We're very proud."

Snow Valley donates the entire day's lift ticket proceeds to the health centre.

In the mascot Bedpan Race, Bud the Dog from Snow Valley Ski Resort was top dog and Simcoe County Paramedics and Springwater Fire were the winners in the Tug of War event.

The group "Midlife Crisis" rocked the patio with an outdoor concert.

The Master of Ceremonies was the colourful and hilarious Doo Doo The Clown.
