NEWS RELEASE

GEORGIAN COLLEGE

Summer is shaping up to be a busy time at Georgian’s Barrie Campus Oral Health Clinic.

The Dental Assistant Intraoral Clinic, which is open to the public, now offers services every Thursday evening, beginning May 26 through June 30 from 5 to 9 p.m.

This is in addition to regular Dental Hygiene clinics, which run three days per week during the summer semester.

“The Oral Health Clinic already sees a large volume of clients, so we’ve added appointments this summer to help fill growing demand,” says Betty Rainey, Customer Service Representative for the clinic. “Dental services offered in our Dental Assistant Intraoral Clinic are a low-cost alternative for preventative oral health care.”

The Oral Health Clinic helps meet local demand for dental services and many people in Simcoe County and Muskoka are already benefitting from the affordable care provided by Georgian students.

Services include oral assessments, polishing, fluoride application, dental sealants and oral health education.

The clinic also offers free sports mouthguards to those who qualify. The students are supervised by dental hygienists and dental assistants.

Cost is $10 for adults and children over the age of 10. For teaching purposes, a four-hour time commitment is required for each appointment.

The Oral Health Clinic is located on the first floor of the Sadlon Centre for Health and Wellness at the Barrie Campus, Room M141.
