Some citizens of Barrie might not like it but the blue cruisers of Barrie Police are getting national kudos.
The cruisers won Canada's Best Dressed Police Vehicle in Blue Line Magazine's annual contest.
"Congratulations to Barrie Police, first-place winner of our annual Best Dressed Police Vehicle contest, featured in our January 2017 issue," tweeted Blue Line Magazine.
Finalists are selected by a panel of editors at Blue Line Magazine and recognized vehicle enthusiasts.
Vehicles are judged on a scale that awards points for creativity, visibility, readability, ergonomics, equipment integration and community identity.
Blue Line Magazine announces the winners each January in conjunction with its police vehicles issue.
There are four different best dressed categories: Police vehicle, law enforcement vehicle, crime prevention/community relations vehicle and special service vehicle.
"Winners reflect the incredible diversity and resourcefulness of Canadian police and law enforcement agencies and the creativity of civilians and companies who support them," according to the Blue Line website.
Barrie Police were recently asked by council to explain to City Council the logic behind the colour switch to blue which was unveiled during Police Week in May.
Orangeville Police was the runner up for Best Dressed Vehicle.
Estevan Police in Saskatchewan won honours for Best Dressed Community Relations Vehicle.
Best Dressed Law Enforcement Vehicle went to to GO Transit and Best Dressed Special Duty Vehicle honours went to Winnipeg Police for the force's Armoured Rescue Vehicle.
Blue Line is Canada's national law enforcement magazine and has been publishing for 28 years.
It has a monthly circulation of 12,000 with a readership of over 55,000 per issue.
