If Todd Tuckey isn’t the luckiest guy in the world, he certainly feels like it.
The Midhurst resident just got back from his honeymoon and while he and his wife were settling in from a great trip, he decided to check his lottery numbers.
Like many people, Tuckey plays when the lottery payout is high and before he left for his two-week trip it was at $60 million.
“I almost didn’t play since we were leaving for a little while, but my wife said I’d regret it if I didn’t,” Tuckey told BarrieToday on Tuesday. “I took a look at the numbers and it said I was a big winner of $502,202. I was absolutely floored.”
While he’s not sure which order the winnings happened for the Nov. 30 draw, he knows it was $500,000 from the Lotto Max Maxmillions draw and $2 from Encore that day and $200 Lotto Max from the week before.
The winning ticket was purchased at Shell on Barrie View Drive in Barrie.
The numbers were chosen from a mixture of birthdays and ages.
The 53-year-old construction business owner said the money will go a long way in helping with his kids’ education and a recently relocated company.
“I’ve got two daughters who are both in their last year of university and a business that I just put a lot of money into with relocation and such, so the money will pretty much be gone in no time,” Tuckey said. “But it certainly helps take a load off after going into debt with the business side of things.”
Tuckey believes things happen in threes. He told BarrieToday he’ll keep playing as he always has just in case that’s true.
“Before that big win I won $5,400 in the 50/50 at the Nov. 17 Barrie Colts game,” he said. “It has been a string of good luck and all at the right time.”
