CITY OF BARRIE
**************************
Today, Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall was elected vice-chair of the Ontario Big City Mayors due to his collaboration, leadership and commitment to addressing critical issues in Barrie, such as homelessness, drug use, lawlessness, the revitalization of the downtown core as well as city parks and public spaces.
Nuttall’s proactive approach and decisive vision on these pressing matters have garnered the confidence and support of his fellow mayors. Nuttall will foster stronger collaboration among Ontario's urban leaders, working together to tackle common challenges and create lasting, positive change for communities across the province.
"This vote by my fellow mayors reflects our shared commitment to addressing the critical issues that have an impact not only in Barrie but across Ontario,” said Nuttall. “I want to thank my colleagues for their confidence, and I look forward to working closely with them to drive meaningful change and strengthen collaboration as we tackle the challenges facing our cities."
Nuttall succeeds current vice-chair Josh Morgan of London. The chair and vice-chair are elected by members for a two-year term.
