MIDLAND - Members of the Marine Unit attached to the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) urge boaters to take a few minutes and conduct a pre-departure check on their vessel this weekend.

With the warm weather of the last two weekends, boaters and cottagers are anxious to head out on the lake and a few well-spent minutes checking lifejackets and other required safety equipment could be vital on the water in an emergency, should that occur.

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP remind drivers and operators that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our trails, roadways and waterways.

Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority and we appreciate calls from the motoring public to assist in this enforcement job.
