Park Place is continuing to add to its inventory of shops, services and eateries.
A new Starbucks is being constructed on Bayview Drive, almost right across from the Barrie Molson Centre, said Park Place developer, Centre Corp managing partner Terry Coughlin.
“It’ll open this fall,” he said, adding the specialty-coffee chain adds to the array of food that includes Mr. Greek, Portuguese chicken chain Nando’s, Freshii, Subway and Teriyaki Experience in a courtyard food area.
Not far from the courtyard area is the former Target store, which Coughlin added is about half rented; he’s still working with other potential tenants, but isn’t ready to announce just yet.
Continuing to build on the mixed-use development with the tagline Shop. Dine. Unwind., Centre Corp is renovating space for Ashley Furniture Home Store and X Play in the building that was custom-built for Target. They are forecast to open in the fall.
“X Play is an American trampoline and laser tag company. It’s a fun adventurous use,” said Coughlin. “It keeps the kids active and busy.”
He added the other prospective tenants are offering services that complement those uses.
“Ashley Furniture is a big furniture store. We have Bed Bath and Beyond, Urban Barn, Solutions and HomeSense. Ashley’s will add another element to that.”
Also coming is a new tenant for the former Il Fornello restaurant – Spoon & Fork, which is further south in the larger, restaurant area that includes Lone Star, Milestones and the Burger’s Priest.
Also on the Park Place development is a McDonalds, which has frontage on Bayview Drive and LA Fitness, as well as clothing and shoe retailers.
