Update #1 (9:05 a.m.): Barrie police say a man has been transported to hospital with serious injuries after his vehicle left the roadway and continued on into a wooded area.
Police received the call just after 5 a.m. on June 24 from the driver who contacted them for assistance.
There is no word on how long the intersection will remain closed.

Barrie police have closed the intersection of Essa Road and Salem Road in the city's south end this morning following a "serious" vehicle crash.
Police say the intersection will remain closed "for an undetermined period of time."
