Reminder: Road closures coming to Barrie for Saturday's parade

A number of roads will be closed to facilitate the parade and other festivities

The Barrie Chamber of Commerce, while partnering with the City of Barrie is pleased to announce the return of the much-anticipated Barrie Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023.

The parade will begin at Lakeshore Drive and Tiffin Street at 5 p.m. In preparation for this festive event, please be advised of the following road closures to facilitate the parade route and associated celebrations:

1.       Lakeshore Drive at Minet's Point (westbound): Closed to all traffic except parade vehicles starting at 2 p.m.

2.       Lakeshore Drive at Tiffin Street: Closure in both directions beginning at 2:30 p.m.

3.       Lakeshore Drive at Victoria Street: Access restricted to local traffic only from 4 p.m.

4.       Lakeshore Drive at 2 and 6 Toronto St.: Access limited to residents. Only the north driveway will be accessible to northbound Toronto Street, directing traffic to westbound Simcoe Street to exit the area. This closure starts at 4 p.m. and lasts until the parade's conclusion.

5.       Toronto Street at Dunlop Street West: Closure in both directions starting at 4 p.m., lasting until the end of the parade.

6.       Dunlop Street West and Maple Avenue: Closed from 4 p.m., reopening post-parade.

7.       Dunlop Street at Five Points: Closure to north and southbound traffic as the parade approaches.

8.       Dunlop Street East: Complete closure starting at noon.

9.       Dunlop Street East at Owen Street: Closed at noon for Open Air Dunlop.

10.     Dunlop Street East at Mulcaster Street: Dunlop will be closed, while Mulcaster Street will close as the parade approaches and will remain closed after the parade for the Noella Festival.

11.     Dunlop Street East at Poyntz Street: Closure beginning at 4 p.m. and reopening post-parade.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly and join us in celebrating this festive season with the Barrie Santa Claus Parade.

We highly suggest that those residents and businesses located East of Toronto Street and South of Dunlop East, and West of Poyntz Street carefully consider the above closures as movement in this area will be directly impacted.

We apologize for any inconvenience these closures may cause and thank the public for their understanding and cooperation. These measures are essential for ensuring a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.
