The technical difficulties that caused Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre’s (RVH) computers, systems and phones to go down yesterday have been resolved.

Information Technology engineers worked around the clock and connectivity to the RVH network has now been fully restored.

RVH immediately enacted its robust emergency contingency plan yesterday morning, including deployment of portable radios, cell phones and staff as ‘runners’ for departments further ensuring no impact on patient care.  The health centre also convened its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) which met regularly to ensure the plans were executed smoothly

All staff, physicians, volunteers and patients were kept well informed during the disruption and nurses increased the frequency of their check-ins with patients to answer any questions and ensure their needs were being met.

RVH thanks the public for their patience during this disruption.
