The City of Barrie says it's closing Sam Cancilla Park to ensure public safety until repairs are complete following an inspection of the underground reservoir.
This comes on the heels of a recently completed structural condition assessment at the Sam Cancilla Park Reservoir, located on Dunlop Street West near Mulcaster Street.
The city says the report recommended that repairs are required to the reservoir. As a result, the city is closing the park temporarily. No date for reopening was provided.
The underground reservoir has been decommissioned and is not in service for water operations, according to the city, which regularly inspects reservoirs to determine their current condition.
