The countdown to Christmas is on and Friday Harbour is excited to announce that Santa Claus will be visiting the resort community throughout the month of December.
Festive programming will begin Saturday, Dec. 4 at noon with the official tree-lighting ceremony taking place at 5 p.m.
Hosted by Canadian television and radio personality Rick Campanelli, the kick-off tree lighting event will feature a live musical performance by five-time Juno Award nominee, Ammoye, who will bring a unique mix of reggae and holiday sounds to the main stage.
Styled after traditional European outdoor markets, the Holidays at Friday Harbour will include a 40-foot holiday tree, and wooden chalet-style cabins offering festive treats and gifts by local vendors. Guests are also invited to sing along with carolers, cozy up in warming huts and take pictures with Santa and his elves.
Live musical acts include Table 69, The Bettys, Alex Bird, Igor Laze, Shawn Steinhart, Steven Taetz, The Sidewalk Crusaders and Glenn Marais and The Mojo Train.
Admission and parking are free.
Unwrapped toy donations for Innisfil’s Christmas for Kids Toy Drive will be accepted at the Piazza located on the Promenade and at Sweet Harbour Toy & Candy Co.
