Barrie Police flooded the area of Bayview Drive and Little Avenue in search of a suspect who fled on foot after being involved in a robbery in the area.
On Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at 1:30 a.m. the victim reports parking his vehicle at 177 Bayview Drive, in the City of Barrie, and walking towards the residential building located at the same address.
He was approached from behind by an unknown male who asked for a lighter to light his cigarette. When the victim reached in his pocket the suspect grabbed the backpack slung over his shoulder and fled on foot.
The victim immediately chased the suspect but was stopped in his tracks when the male turned and punched him in the side of the face. At this time the suspect got away running west towards Bayview Drive.
The backpack is described as black with checkered pattern on the front, and contained the victim's iPad mini with charging cords and personal paperwork from UPAK Disposal.
Description of suspect:
- Male, white
- 5'11" medium build
- Long scraggly hair
- Reddish/brown facial hair
- Scruffy appearance
- Wearing baggy clothing of an unknown colour
