Severe thunderstorm watch issued for:
   Barrie - Orillia - Midland, Ont. (044100)
   Bracebridge - Gravenhurst, Ont. (044440)

Current details:
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing large hail and heavy rain.

Hazards:
Heavy downpours producing 30 to 50 mm.
Hail up to 2 cm in diameter.
Risk of a tornado.

Timing:
This afternoon into the early evening.

Discussion:
Thunderstorms are expected to develop and move across the region this afternoon. Despite it being early autumn, a tornado or two cannot be ruled out.

Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
