Snow day! Barrie area pelted with winter wallop

Enjoying the weather? Send us your photos and we could add them to ongoing gallery

The sound of snowblowers humming on city streets was evident throughout Barrie this morning after the city was hit with another winter blast overnight and into Thursday.

Environment Canada is calling for more flurries today and there was also a risk of freezing drizzle.

More snow squalls are possible late this afternoon. There was a snow-squall warning in effect as of 10 a.m.

Up to another five centimetres of snow is in the forecast today, so maybe don't tuck those snowblowers away just yet.

Environment Canada is forecasting more squalls tonight, with between 10 to 20 centimetres of snow.

And? You guessed it, more snow heading into Friday.

The Simcoe County Student Transportation Consortium announced this morning that school buses in all zones were cancelled due to current poor road conditions and visibility concerns. All schools and board office buildings are also closed today for both the public and Catholic school boards.

If you have any photos of what you are doing outside to stay busy, send them to raymond@barrietoday.com are we could add them to our ongoing gallery. Let us know where you are and what you're up to.
