WEATHER ALERT
ENVIRONMENT CANADA
***********************
Snow squall watch issued for:
   Barrie - Orillia - Midland, Ont. (044100)
Innisfil - New Tecumseth - Angus, Ont. (046510)

Current details:
Snow squalls possible Wednesday.

What:
Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm
Very low visibility in snow and blowing snow

When:
Beginning Wednesday morning then ending in the evening.

Additional Information:
Snow squalls from Georgian Bay will bring sudden very low visibility in bursts of heavy snow. Strong northwesterly winds gusting to 70 km/h will result in very low to nil visibility in blowing snow, especially in exposed areas.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Snow squall watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the formation of bands of snow that could produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.

More details on the alert are available here.

Better announce bus cancellations for tomorrow now. Might as well make it three days straight. 🙊

Someone told me that so far there have been 18 days this winter of bus cancellations. I guess they'll just run the school year out into July?? 😊

Schools have remained open, they're not closed so there's no need to run school into the month of July. If you're concerned about your child not getting an education, drive them to school.

If you drive them to school, are they being taught, or just free time?

Perhaps there could be other alternatives on snow days, like Google classroom. I drove my daughter to school one time when the busses were canceled because in the morning it looked okay to do so, but I picked her up an hour early because it started to storm and didn't want to get caught in the storm, but I did and it was scary for me, so if the bus is canceled then it's canceled. I asked her what they did today and she said, they played and round up the children that attended that day and did some games; I don't know if they actually do regular school stuff? Could be because most kids are missing. It's important to stay safe and keep our kids safe, so if busses are canceled so be it.

Carpool when it’s not possible to walk to school. Too many commentators blame the cancellations for no school but they are open! Ask your trustee Lloyd why bus loads of kids can’t walk to a school in Westridge. Oh! Because a school promised to open in 2023 is where??? That’s a solution isn’t it?

OK, here's the official announcement from 2021. It says 2024. Show us where they announced 2023 as you claim.
