Stars shine on Mariposa Folk Festival stages (17 photos)

From Mavis Staples stealing the show, to The Strumbellas, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings and Murray McLaughlin, Saturday was a day to remember at Mariposa

The Mariposa Folk Festival is many things to many people. But, in the end, it's about the music.

The lineup for this year's 60th anniversary event is, as always, an eclectic mix of young and old — the familiar and the new.

On Saturday night, Blackie and the Road Kings and The Strumbellas wowed the packed audience at Tudhope Park's main stage, but there was an array of talented performers singing on all the sun-drenched stages throughout the Orillia park.

One of the highlights Saturday night was a union of legends as Orillia's Gordon Lightfoot introduced the newest member of Canada's Songwriting Hall of Fame, Murray McLaughlin. It was a special moment for the well-known Canadian folk legends.

Tonight, Lightfoot will, finally, be inducted into the Mariposa Folk Festival Hall of Fame before Blue Rodeo ends the three-day fest with their headlining performance. This year's festival — for the first time in 30 years — is a sellout.

We hope you enjoy these images from Saturday's concerts and festivities.
