SIMCOE COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) continues to support student achievement throughout the summer months by providing a range of summer learning programs. The camps will focus on numeracy, literacy and assistive technology for elementary students.
Summer STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) Camp for students who just completed Grade 2, 3, 6, 7 or 8. This camp is intended to strengthen students’ literacy and numeracy skills. Students will participate in daily activities focusing on math and technology such as robotics and coding. It runs weekdays from July 31 to Aug. 18, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following SCDSB schools:
- Connaught P.S.
- Ernest Cumberland P.S.
- Ferndale Woods E.S.
- Harriett Todd P.S.
- Lake Simcoe P.S.
- Mundy’s Bay P.S.
- Oakley Park E.S.
- Portage View E.S.
Summer Assistive Technology Camp for students with a diagnosis of Learning Disability (specific diagnosis in DSM-V) who currently have Special Equipment Amount (SEA) equipment and are in Grades 4 to 8 in June 2017. This camp will reinforce the students’ strengths by offering them assistive technology tools to support their unique learning experiences. It runs weekdays from Aug. 8 to 18, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ferndale Woods E.S.
Attendees will also experience camp activities including physical education and field trips, giving them opportunities to share experiences that they can read, write and talk about.
